Rihanna & Nicki: You Get An Album Cover! You Get An Album Cover!

Busy busy messy morning it has been.  Rihanna and Nicki unveiled their new album covers on Twitter today, Rihanna's 7th album titled, Unapologetic and Nicki's rerelease, The Re-Up, both arrive in stores on 11/19/12...MESS.  Let me discuss...

Rihanna...lol...I mean I like the picture itself, as usual she is selling it.  But what are all these words?  Why are you letting children write in crayola marker on your face???  The more I look at it the more I like it but I don't know.  Why is 'LOVE' emblazed on her forehead?  We get it!  You want some peen or need it girl.  Be a strong black woman like me and pay it!  And confiscate Melissa's camera :(

Nicki..........how dare you use a video still for a cover?  I know no one bothered with the song or video but that doesn't mean we wouldn't notice???  Who okayed this?  And apparently Nicki lets her fans choose all her covers?  Do you not have the budget for a photo shoot?  Are you that busy??  I have so many questions that only the lord can answer it seems.  I dare...DARE...say Roman Reloaded is better than this *writhes in pain*

Under whelmed as a whole today.  I expected to be fanning my eyes and thrashing about my desk but instead I was playing with my beard and scratching my head.  Anyway, make sure y'all check the albums out come 11/19. 

Kenny Reviewed It: Rihanna "Diamonds"

 

So, we are going to first go through my range of emotions toward Rihanna's new single, "Diamonds" in the form of GIFS!

So when I first heard it I was like oh ok...

Then I said ok well let me listen to this again...it could be a grower...lord please!!!

But wait...I'm feeling it...yes GAWD SHINEEEEE

And Guess what?  I was on the train tearing up looking crazy and everyone was staring at me...YESSSS GAWD RIHANNA reach into my past and make me FEEL IT!

In all seriousness, this is the 7th lead single from Rihanna (almost in a row) and the fact that the world and I are still even able to care says a lot.  "Diamonds" is a departure from the usual Rihanna fare, gone are the snatch popping and patting "anthems" of Talk That Talk and in is a much more subdued, thoughtful Rihanna. 

A first for a Rihanna single, "Diamonds" is a vocal production in every sense of the word.  Funny that Benny Blanco and Stargate BOTH produced the track only to create something as simplistic as this.  But that is where the beauty lies.  For once, the production is not the highlight of the single.  Rihanna's vocals are front and center here in all it's emotion, flaws, and strengths.  And she delivers, I can feel the hope, love, and angst in her voice, a long with a British/Pirate like twang which I won't really focus on.  It really leads me to become excited about her forthcoming project, especially with the contrast of dark imagery associated with this campaign.

Even though the song's production took a backseat to Rihanna's vocal performance, it could still have had a bigger footprint on the single.  Especially since not one, but two, leading pop producers are behind it.  Also, it is glaringly obvious that Sia wrote this song from Rihanna's delivery.  She even sounds like Sia at many points of the song.  That said, Sia has pushed Rihanna vocally to another level.

We'll see how this song does, regardless a departure for Rihanna is a celebration in itself.  R.I.P. Thughanna :)

Rihanna Rolls Up "Diamonds" Single Cover

Yes the pic is staying that big and in THAT ORDER!  Hey Yalllllll I'm over here shaking and crying cause Rihanna's new single, "Diamonds" is set to premiere Wednesday at 8 am on the Elvis Durant Morning Show.  "Diamonds" is produced by Stargate and Benny Blanco, and penned by Sia.  Rihanna has described it as "happy, hopefuly and hippy", she said that this will be a different sound for her, sonically.

MY GAWD JESUS YES I AM READYYYYYYYYYY.  I'm sure to be in the bathroom all day at work Wednesday screaming and crying lol are yall ready?  Cause you know I am!

Rihanna To Release New Music On Monday????

On your mark...get set...SNATCH! fjaiaiefjaieofjaieofj Apparently Queen may be releasing new music as soon as this Monday!!  Reports from Def Jam France, NRJ, and RihannaDaily have alluded to the fact that a new single will be coming VERY soon.  It is unclear whether the single will be for a rerelease of Talk That Talk or a whole new body of work.  I'm hoping for a rerelease or EP honestly.

Rihanna has been reportedly in the studio with artists/producers such as, Ne-Yo, Sean Garrett, Diplo, Deadmau5, Nicki Burns, David Guetta, Sia, and others.  So who knows what to expect.  I just need my body slayed and ravaged by it.

I mean at this point, what is Thanksgiving without Rihanna?  Yes!  Serve me up that chic turkey every year Rihanna!  This year's turkey comes with a nice pixie cut YES GAWD!  I just hope she drops that thug mess this era, it was cute but let's move on.  And PLEASE give me that dance album I've been SCRATCHING for for years!
