Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 01:05PM
October is a pivotal month for many as it marks the face of strength, struggle and survival! Breast Cancer debilitates many Americans each year and for the past Twenty-Five years, October has been National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Organizations all around the world have been fighting for a cure raising millions of dollars each year in aid of an anecdotal savior. But until that day has come, technology has risen to the occasion identifying millions of early detected cases of Breast Cancer in women all over the country! Prevention and Early Detection could be the difference of your life.
Ladies.... Now, I know some of you have had your Mammograms this year... and here are some of you who have never had one because of some 'things you've heard'. Well hopefully we can clear that up for you today!!!
Mammogram Myths

- I do not need to get a Mammogram because I self check often. :MYTH
Self checking does not replace Mammogram.
- Every Woman regardless of age should get a Mammogramn just to be sure! :MYTH
Women under 40 have denser breast tissues which make it harder to read on Mammogram machines. This is why Women over 40 are recommended for screenings every 18- 24 months.
- I shouldnt get Mammograms if I've had breast augmentations :MYTH
Though Breast augmentations reduce the compression during mammogram, it is very important to continue or seek screening.
Remember Prevention is very Important! Know your families health history and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Smoking, drinking, and being overweight are three things that increase a woman's risk for breast cancer.
